New Landscape Management Company chosen

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that they selected Cagwin and Dorward as the new landscape management company for our community.  This decision was made at a March Executive Committee meeting after reviewing proposals and presentations and visited other Association properties  from several landscape contractors.  C&D replaced Gardner’s Guild effective April 15.  C&D is a Marin-based company known for their proactive horticultural expertise, customer focused approach, consistent quality, water management expertise, and landscape improvement planning.  One of their CLCA Certified Irrigation Technicians will conduct a full water systems check within the first 60 days and will provide us with a proposal and order of priority for recommended repairs and upgrades.
Please keep in mind that our landscape budget has not increased so there will be no dramatic overnight changes in our landscaping.  However, we do expect to see positive changes over time.  As always, please direct any of your landscape questions or needs to Janice Cantin, Landscape Committee Chairperson.

Point San Pedro Road Improvements Project

The County of Marin Department of Public Works (DPW) is preparing to resurface a 3.3-mile stretch of Point San Pedro Road from Union Street (near San Rafael High School) to Riviera Drive (near Peacock Gap Lagoon). MCK Services, Inc of Concord has been contracted to handle the project, which has a budget of $1,287,051.80.

In addition to road resurfacing, work will include drainage improvements, minor concrete, accessibility improvements, and road striping. Construction will take place during the daytime hours with traffic control measures. One-lane of alternating traffic will be maintained at all times during construction, and stopped public traffic is not to exceed 5 minutes. Every effort will be made to provide advance notice and minimize inconvenience to residents.

.Construction, which spans both City of San Rafael and County jurisdiction, is anticipated to start in mid-April and will go through July 2014.  The paving from Riviera Drive to Biscayne will begin after July 2014.
